One of my personal biggest fears in life was sky diving. Now, this is a strange fear, because I could go my entire life and never have to have that experience necessarily. However, as I got older, I started to think more and more on it and why I was afraid. The obvious answer is that you are jumping out of a plane to certain doom. But that is not quite right. I was more afraid of trying it I started to realize, than even the actual idea of it. I was afraid that I simply could not do it.
After sitting on this fear I decided one day, really on a whim, that I should conquer it. I wanted to get a taste of what it was like to actually face a fear that I did not have to. To conquer something for only myself. It was something big to me, it is not like I lived a life without any fears or challenges, but this was something that had no real purpose except to teach me something about myself.
When you think about your wildest dream, the adventure you want to go on in your life, the chief reason cited that people can not go and do it immediately is money. Money is a very important factor, of course, if you want to travel.
Now when you first start making all of your plans for your adventure, or at least thinking about it, and you see that bottom line number it can be intimidating, and in fact it scares some people away. “I’ll never be able to afford that trip” is commonly said.
Now, realistically, yes, you might not necessarily be able to stay in that five star hotel, or take that long island limousine, but if the adventure is what you truly want, and the experience, then there are different options you can take that make it more achievable.
I’m back… if you didn’t read my last post, go do that now! Otherwise carry on like you were just about to and get to reading the good below.
I was about thirty two years old when I realized I had been working the same job for almost a decade. Now do not get me wrong, I do not mind bartending one bit, in fact I enjoy talking to the customers.
Hearing about all the things they do is interesting to me, and I feel like I learned a lot from their experiences, however, the thing I learned most was that I wanted some of my own. I had lived in the same town for most of my adult life, the parts that count anyway, and again, was not unsatisfied, I like my town!
I Was Always Curious To What’s Out There
But, I had always watched TV and read some books and wanted to see what the rest of the world was really like. My customers, especially a few of my regulars who worked abroad sometimes, would come in and tell me of their own adventures.
Here, we believe in chasing dreams (at least tangible ones, sorry, we can not get to space yet!) and we also believe in helping people and sharing our own adventures to help inspire others.
Throughout life, people find things that they desire to do, things they want to see themselves doing. It is not uncommon to hear someone say “oh, I have always wanted to visit South East Asia”, or “I wish I had my own artificial turf putting green in my backyard”, but they then go throughout their lives never doing what they need to do to have the things or experiences they want so bad.
These moments are something that can be cherished for life, and as such should be pursued. Sadly, the world is not that simple of a place. Life gets in the way for many people, and they never get a chance to see themselves being the people they see in their mind’s eye.
The Saddest Thought
To us this is the saddest thought, and as people that have been in similar positions, we want to help. There are some things that have been faced, and would have been just that much easier with a little bit of a guide or some inspiration.
